Elizabeth Taylor’s Monumental Auction

Christie’s will auction the jewellery and haute couture belonging to the most famous name and face in the world: the legendary Dame Elizabeth Taylor.
The Hollywood actress was famed for her craft as she was for her startling beauty, many failed marriages- twice with Richard Burton- and of course, her well-lauded jewellery. She once said Burton gave her jewellery just because it was a Tuesday.
The month of September will kick-start a three-month public tour from Moscow before going on to London, Los Angeles, Dubai, Geneva, Paris, and Hong Kong. In December, the tour will culminate in a special ten-day exhibition of the complete collection at Christie’s New York. For complete information on dates in your location go to www.christies.com/elizabethtaylor.

On December 13th, The Legendary Jewels: The Collection of Elizabeth Taylor will be the first in a series of auctions in December. 80 lots from the magnificent jewellery collection will be presented that evening with a further 189 lots the following day in New York.

“From the first time I met her in 1998”, said François Curiel, the jewellery director and president of Christie’s Asia. “It was clear that she possessed an expert‟s eye for craftsmanship, rarity, quality and history. She collected the best pieces from the best periods, and as a result her collection boasts exquisite examples from the most celebrated of jewelry designers, including BVLGARI, Boucheron, Cartier, JAR, Schlumberger, Tiffany and Van Cleef & Arpels, among others.”

Swans, couture lovers and private collectors alike will all be attracted to and descend on, probably, the most iconic auction since Jackie Onassis’.

“These stones have a storied past and tell the tale of Elizabeth Taylor’s life,” Curiel added: “I hope that the next owner of each of these iconic pieces will enjoy and respect these jewels just as much as she did, and as she herself said ‘give them a really good home.’”

And with her collection of breath-taking jewels estimated in the high excess of $30million, we wish bidders the best of luck. You’re going to need it.

The following items I believe will be extremely popular and reach far past their estimates.
